A set in progress and a final piece, still in progress but happy I have settled with where I'm going.

Photoshop or Painter....I'm finding I am starting move away from painter sadly as it was close to the way I executed my painting procedure. What excites me about Photoshop is I'm never sure what I'm going to do, a few marks, a textured brush thrown in for good measure and after a while shapes and forms start to appear. I find composition also starts to develop better for me in Photoshop as I tend to paint straight on in Painter, not that I intentionally do this but it can be frustrating. This week I spent quite a few hours on brush presets in Photoshop, yes I didn't know they existed. How annoying it was to drop menu your brushes and try to randomly pick brushes that I think I used last time but alas they didn't apply colour the way I had on a good creative evening before. So anyway, this is a painting , illustration, concept art, call it what you may but I have noticed that my own work to me is more exciting and this took me 3 hours to get to this stage...a few cups of tea, a wc now and again but workflow was better. I understand artists tend to have their own workflows whether it's Painter or Photoshop, but isn't it fun sometimes when not restricted to briefs to let your hands do the work and having a look now and again to see what is appearing. This picture to this stage is depicting a warrior character that will eventually meet the beast behind him, or was the dragon creature thrown in because the clouds started to look like this...that's the point I'm making....I'm looking forward to another session where detailing commences..nice to be excited about painting again..
